How is your credit rating assessed?

Credit ratings are worked out on a points system. This is based on the conduct of your account which is very important and your personal details. Being a property owner for example lifts your rating significantly.

The sort of personal information they need  includes age and marital status. Financial information would take in your current income. Systems vary so your credit rating will also vary according to which lender you use. This means that your application may be accepted by one lender but rejected by another.

CRAs do not assess your information. They only provide lenders or retailers with the facts. It is then the lender’s decision whether to grant you credit.
